<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer compound useful as a light-emitting material, a charge transporting material or the like and excellent in heat resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The polymer compound has as a recurring unit a structure obtained by fusing a tetralin ring with an indene ring, the five-membered ring of the indene ring and the benzene ring in the tetralin ring holding two adjacent carbon atoms in the five-membered ring in common in the structure, and has a number-average molecular weight of 10<SP>3</SP>-10<SP>8</SP>in terms of polystyrene.
