The switch has an electromagnetic contactor (20) which is in a rest position, when current does not circulate in a coil (23) of the contactor. The contactor (20) is in active position, when current circulates in the coil. Interrupters (T1, T2, T3) are provided for the series/parallel connection of batteries (BAT1, BAT2). The interrupters (T1, T3) are closed and the interrupter (T2) is open in the rest position. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a method for switching energy storage units (B) an electric generation and starter system comprising a power switch.
