PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera capable of easily generating a composite image with high entertainment properties. SOLUTION: The electronic camera comprises: a selection unit for selecting an arbitrary background image, based on the user operation; an imaging unit for imaging a subject to generate an image; an extraction unit for extracting a main object part in the image generated by the imaging unit; an image composition unit for compositing an image of the main object part, extracted by the extraction unit, with the arbitrary background image selected by the selection unit; a display unit for displaying an image composited by the image composition unit; and a recording unit for recording the image composited by the image compositing unit.
