PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contribute to a user's workability by enabling emission of a light emitting part until immediately before removal without stored contents of a storage element broken in a configuration in which processing according to a state of each ink tank such as an ink residual quantity can be carried out by setting the nonvolatile storage element and the light emitting part at an ink tank and communicating information stored in the storage element to a recorder mainframe, and also in which the state of the ink tank is made reportable by the light emitting part. SOLUTION: A volatile storage element (103D) is set in addition to the nonvolatile storage element (103B). When the user can carry out attachment and detachment of the ink tank, ink tank state information held by the nonvolatile storage element is transferred to the volatile storage element in advance of that. In the case where the attachment and detachment of the ink tank can be carried out, accessing is made only to the volatile storage element, thereby carrying out lighting/extinction control of the light emitting part (101).
