PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin aqueous dispersion which contains a low acid value polyester resin, is excellent in storage stability and impact stability even when the content of an organic solvent is reduced and can form a resin coating film having good adhesiveness to a base material, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This polyester resin aqueous dispersion comprises a polyester resin having an acid value of 2-10 mgKOH/g and a basic compound, and has an organic solvent content of less than 3 mass%. The dispersion has a pH of 8-14. The method for producing the polyester resin aqueous dispersion comprises the steps of: obtaining a polyester resin aqueous dispersion which comprises a polyester resin having an acid value of 2-10 mgKOH/g and a basic compound and has an organic solvent content of 3 mass% or more, removing the organic solvent from the aqueous dispersion to obtain a polyester resin aqueous dispersion having an organic solvent content of less than 3 mass%, and adding a basic compound to the aqueous dispersion.
