PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean foreign matter deposited on a sheet without restricting the selection of the sheet to be used. SOLUTION: The sheet carrying device comprises a resist roller 38 for carrying the sheet S and a brush 14b for cleaning the sheet S passing through the resist roller 38. The brush 14b is arranged on the upstream side of the resist roller 38 in a sheet carrying direction, and cleans the sheet S after the sheet arrives at the resist roller 38.
