A compound searching method using special character input in a navigation system is provided to perform compound search for a destination corresponding to an inputted search keyword to search for the destination rapidly and minimize the number of processes of operating the navigation system to provide a safe driving environment. A search keyword for position information search is inputted(S210). It is determined whether the search keyword includes a special character(S220). When the search keyword includes the special character, compound search is performed according to the search keyword (S231). A searched position is displayed(S240).
