A CROSS LAYER OPTIMIZATION METHOD FOR BIT RATE CONTROL OF VIDEO CODEC WHILE TRANSMITTING VIDEO DATA OVER WIBRO SYSTEM

A cross layer optimization method for controlling a bit rate of a video CODEC(Coder Decoder) in case of video data transmission in a WiBro(Wireless Broadband Internet) system is provided to control so that a transmission bit rate of a video can be varied by WiBro wireless channel states of a transceiver, during video transmission, thereby improving a PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Rate). A transmission side terminal checks wireless channel state information of transmission and reception sides(220,230). The transmission terminal determines a transmission bit rate of a video CODEC by using wireless channel state information of the transmission side(240,250). If a communication network used by a reception side terminal is the same as a communication network used by the transmission side terminal, the transmission side terminal controls the transmission bit rate of the CODEC by using wireless channel state information of the reception side(260,270).
