CONTROL INTEGRATED CIRCUIT FOR SWITCHED MODE POWER SUPPLY

A control integrated circuit for an SMPS(Switched Mode Power Supply) is provided to implement a driving function for driving a switching element and a protection function for protecting the switching element from overcurrent by using one circuit. A control integrated circuit for an SMPS includes first to third control units(10,20,30). The first control unit receives an output signal of an output terminal of a power supply to determine a state of the power supply. The second control unit determines the state of the power supply according to an output state of current flowing in a switching element(40) to generate a clock signal for driving the switching element. The third control unit receives output signals of the first and second control units to apply a driving signal to the switching element. The first control unit has a load detecting unit(110) to sense an output value of the output terminal of the power supply and a mode determining unit(120) to determine whether the power supply is in a normal or standby state.
