A vehicle chassis frame comprises a central longitudinal tunnel 25, open at the bottom over substantially its whole length, inner longitudinal members 33 extending in the form of a fork both forwardly and rearwardly and transverse members 17, 18 and 21 secured to outer longitudinal members 12 and 13, the inner longitudinal members forming with the tunnel an X-shaped central frame. The inner longitudinal members extend forwardly as members 22 connected to a transverse member 23 and at the rear end are secured to members 14 and 15 connected by transverse members 19 and 24. The frame members are generally of box cross-section, as shown in the centrally taken cross section, Fig. 6. Base plates 36, 40 and 40<SP>1</SP> are secured to the frame and a pedal base plate 28 is secured at the fore end. The transverse members 17, 18 may have apertures 17<SP>1</SP>, 18<SP>1</SP> for the propeller shaft (Figs. 5 and 7) or may extend above the tunnel 25 as shown by the broken line in Fig. 6 for use with swinging or rigid axles respectively. |
