A method for reducing wear of a disk using a dithering process and a disk drive using the method are provided to minimize damage to a disk and a magnetic head by executing the dithering process to finely move the magnetic head in a range of latching the magnetic head to parking zone in an acceleration period of the spindle motor. A method for reducing wear of a disk using a dithering process comprises a first step(S501) of judging transition to a spindle motor driving mode, and a second step of applying a dithering current, alternately moving a magnetic head toward the inner periphery and the outer periphery of a disk within a range of latching the magnetic head to a parking zone of the disk in an acceleration period of the spindle motor in case of transition to the spindle motor driving mode after judging the first step, to a voice coil motor.
