A brake apparatus for a wheel chair is provided to prevent a user from stopping suddenly and falling forward by decelerating rotation of a wheel by turns in stopping the wheel chair. A brake apparatus for a wheel chair includes: a first brake(205) and a second brake(210) for decelerating rotation of a wheel(215) by turns; a cam shaft(220) for generating a braking power by bringing the first and second brakes into contact with the wheel by turns; a brake driving part(300) for rotating the cam shaft by linking a wheel shaft(225) and the cam shaft in operation of the brake; a first brake wire(255) and a second brake wire(260) for making the first and second brakes come into contact with the wheel according to rotation of the cam shaft by being respectively connected to an eccentric position of the cam shaft.
