A VETERINARY COMPOSITION COMPRISING EXTRACTS OF GALLA RHOIS AND MOUTAN CORTEX RADICIS SHOWING ANTIBACTERIAL AND ANTIVIRAL ACTIVITY

A veterinary composition comprising the extracts of Galla Rhois and Moutan Cortex Radicis is provided to inhibit growth of bacteria and viruses causing diseases in animals, especially pig without toxicity and side effects, so that the veterinary composition is useful for prevention and treatment of porcine respiratory and digestive disease in animals. A veterinary composition for prevention and treatment of porcine respiratory and digestive disease caused by bacteria or viruses in animals including mammal, poultry and fish comprises 0.1-50 wt.% of the extracts of Galla Rhois and Moutan Cortex Radicis which are prepared by extracting Galla Rhois and Moutan Cortex Radicis with water, C1-C4 lower alcohol or a mixture thereof, wherein the porcine respiratory disease is caused by bacteria including Mannheimia haemolytica, Haemopilus somnus, Pasteurella multocida, Mycoplasma hyopheumoniae and Actinobacillus pleuropneumonia or viruses including PVC-2(porcine circo virus type 2), PPV(porcine parvovirus), PEV(porcine entero virus), SIV(swine influenza virus) and PRRSV(porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus); and the porcine digestive disease is caused by bacteria including Yersinia, Hyodysenteriae, Campylobacter, Clostridium, Salmonella spp., Lawsonia intracellularis, Brachyspira pilosicoli and Escherichia coli, or viruses including TGE(transmissible gastroenteritis) virus, PEDV(porcine epidemic diarrhea virus) and coronavirus. Further, the porcine respiratory disease is selected from porcine Pasteurella pneumonia, porcine Mycoplasma pneumonia, pircine atrophic rhinitis, porcine pleuropneumonia, Glasser's disease, PRRS(porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome), PMWS(post-weaning multisystemic wasting syndrome) and PRDC(porcine respiratory disease complex); and the porcine digestive disease is selected from Yersinia enteritis, proliferative enteropathies, colitis, swine dysentery, non-infectious colitis, Salmonella enteritis, Escherichia coli diarrhea, TGE(transmissible gastroenteritis) and PED(porcine epidemic diarrhea).
