Anticonvulsant and antiepileptic compounds of the general formula in which each of R1 and R2 is a hydrogen atom or a sulphamoyl group, provided that at least one of R1 and R2 is a sulphamoyl group, are prepared by the interaction of p-sulphamoyl benzaldehyde and the appropriate R1, R2- aniline followed by reduction of the resulting intermediate Schiff base.
