APPARATUS AND MATHOD FOR PRECODING IN MULTIPLE INPUT MULTIPLE OUTPUT WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A precoding apparatus in a MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output) wireless communication system and a method thereof are provided to maintain high channel capacity with a small amount of feedback information by combining and using column vectors of an identical unitary precoding matrix for each subband in precoding in a MIMO wireless communication system. A receiving block in a MIMO wireless communication system comprises a channel estimation part(112), a correlation matrix calculation part(114), and a codebook selection part(116). The channel estimation part estimates a channel with a transmitting block for each subband. Based on the channel information estimated by the channel estimation part, the correlation matrix calculation part produces a spatial correlation matrix. Using the spatial correlation matrix and the channel information, the codebook selection part selects a unitary precoding matrix to be used for the precoding of the transmitting block.
