<p>A blunt cannula for accessing a slit septum is provided to reduce the insertion resistance advantageously and to have a distal part that is molded uniquely not to need a sharp or flat tip end. A blunt cannula includes a proximal part(12), a distal part(14), a central lumen(36) and one or more fluid openings(44). The distal end includes plural tapered segments(22,24,26,28) that have different tapers, extends from the proximal part and ends in an annular tip end. The central lumen extends to the distal part through the proximal part. The fluid opening communicates with the central lumen and the distal part. The tip end is a solid. The central lumen extends to a small distal part of the tip(18). One of the tapered segments approaches the tip end more than the other tapered segments.</p> |
