A rear view monitoring apparatus for a vehicle is provided to insert a camera part in a housing when the apparatus is not operated and to expose the camera part to the outside when used, thereby protects the camera and camera lens. A rear view monitoring apparatus for a vehicle comprises a camera part, an input part, a display part, and a controller. The camera part is installed in the vehicle in a normal state, and is moved out in a photographing state to take a picture of the rear view. The camera part includes a motor(110) rotary on a rotary shaft, a motor driving part for driving the motor by the controller, a camera(120) rotary by the motor, and a housing(130) which is rotary by the motor and which houses/exposes the camera. The controller controls the motor driving part to rotate the motor at a predetermined angle(Theta1).
