An anti-shake apparatus is provided to solve a problem that if the angle of hand shaking caused by rolling is very small, it is not possible to visually check correction of image shaking to correct hand shaking caused by rolling. An operating unit(30a) includes an image capturing element and is movable and rotatable to correct image shaking. A controller controls the operating unit to correct image shaking. The controller calculates the angle of hand shaking caused by rolling, and controls whether to correct image shaking to correct hand shaking caused by rolling. If an absolute value of the angle of hand shaking caused by rolling is larger than a threshold value, the correction of image shaking is executed to correct hand shaking caused by pitching, yawing and rolling. If an absolute value of the angle of hand shaking caused by rolling is not larger than a threshold value, the correction of image shaking is executed to correct hand shaking caused by pitching and yawing. without consideration of hand shaking caused by rolling.
