A plasma display apparatus is provided to implement the convenient usage environment for a user by blocking heat. A plasma display panel(100) implements an image by a discharge. A heat blocking layer(150) is arranged on an image display surface side of the plasma display panel. The plasma display panel includes plural discharge cells(S), plural discharge electrodes(112,113), a fluorescent layer(125), and discharge gas. A first substrate(110) and a second substrate(120) are arranged to face each other. The discharge cells are arranged between the first and second substrates to configure an array. The discharge electrodes are extended by covering the discharge cells to generate a discharge. The fluorescent layer is applied to inner walls of the discharge cells. The discharge gas is filled in the discharge cells. The heat blocking layer includes a radiant wave absorbing/reflecting body, which selectively absorbs/reflects infrared rays radiant wave generated by the discharge.
