A method for preparing silver-dyed or deposited hydrotalcite is provided to impart excellent antimicrobial and sterilizing performances to hydrotalcite by dyeing or depositing silver on hydrotalcite by electrolysis. A method for preparing silver-dyed or deposited hydrotalcite includes the steps of: dispersing hydrotalcite in water or other organic solution, wherein the hydrotalcite is selected from hydrotalcites synthesized from metal oxide or metal hydroxide, hydrotalcites synthesized from metal chloride, hydrotalcites synthesized by other methods, derivatives thereof, or natural hydrotalcites; connecting silver to an electrode, and sending an electric current to dye and deposit the silver over/on the hydrotalcite using electrolysis; and filtering and drying the resultant.
