A session updating method and a terminal through network-based capability management are provided to reduce end-to-end signaling through radio section by allowing a server in a network to obtain information about capability of a user equipment and centrally manage it. A controller(103) transmits information about one or more capabilities required for performing a service with one or more entities via a communication module(101) in order to distribute it. When one or more capabilities are changed, the controller transmits information about the changed capabilities to a management server in order to distribute it to the one or more entities. The controller performs session updating with the one or more entities by using the information about the changed capabilities. The information about the one or more capabilities is included in a capability information response message and transmitted. The information about the one or more changed capabilities is included in a capability information response message or a capability information update message and transmitted.
