<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device for a vehicle, the device appropriately displaying each of an image giving priority to visibility and an image giving priority to achieving the purpose of display. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal panel illuminated by a light source in the display device for a vehicle has warning display pixels that display a warning image when abnormality occurs as a specific time, and meter display pixels that display a meter image at a normal time when the warning image is not displayed by the warning display pixels, and at a time when abnormality occurs. A control circuit controlling the liquid crystal panel and the light source has a first mode to allow the light source to emit light and a second mode to allow the light source to emit light at a luminance lower than that of the first mode as its set control modes.
