PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of ensuring high reliability and high productivity, and a projector using the same light source device. SOLUTION: The light source device has a light source unit which supplies laser light, an SHG element 12 as a wavelength converting element which converts the wavelength of the laser light from the light source unit, and a fixation unit which fixes the wavelength converting element to a substrate by using elastic force, where the fixation unit has a leaf spring part 13 for fixing the wavelength converting element to the substrate by using the spring force, the wavelength converting element has a first surface 21 provided to the substrate side and a second surface 22 provided on the opposite side from the first surface 21, and the leaf spring part 13 applies the spring force by the second surface 22.
