PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which enables efficient operation producing an improved utilization ratio of an apparatus and improved imaging at the same time. SOLUTION: In a method for activating a hybrid medical imaging unit which is equipped with a first imaging apparatus having a high spatial resolution and a second nuclear medicine imaging apparatus having a high sensitivity and where the first imaging apparatus and the second nuclear medicine imaging apparatus respectively detect measuring signals for imaging from the common examination volume, the duration for detecting the measuring signal of one of the imaging apparatuses is determined by depending on the duration defined by the occurrence of a specific termination criterion for detecting the measuring signal of the other imaging apparatus.
