PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaft 100 for a turbine engine. SOLUTION: A shaft 100 includes a first end part 102, an opposing second end part 104, and a tubular section 106 extending therebetween, and includes a reinforcement layer 116 circumscribing a part of the tubular section and including metal matrix composite (MMC) material including reinforcement fiber 118, and includes a cladding 120 circumscribing a part of the reinforcement layer and the tubular section. The shaft 100 can be coupled to an inside of a single spool type gas turbine engine 10, a two spool type gas turbine engine, a multiple spool type gas turbine engine, a FLADE engine, a variable cycle gas turbine engine, an adaptation cycle gas turbine engine, or a turbine base combined cycle engine.
