<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas turbine with low heating value fuel after converting the same to high heating value fuel. <P>SOLUTION: A combustion system comprises a fuel supply comprising fuel having a low heating value of about 100 Btu/scf or smaller, an inert gas isolation unit 74 in fluid-communication with the fuel supply, and a combustion system in fluid-communication with the inert gas isolation unit 74 and an oxidant 78 supply located in the downstream thereof. The inert gas isolation unit 74 has a membrane constituted to separate N2 from CO and to form a concentrate flow having a heating value of about 110 Btu/scf or higher. A method for operating such a power plant comprises steps for making a fuel stream pass through the inert gas isolation unit 74 to remove N2 from the fuel stream forming a concentrated stream, and then combusting the concentrated stream together with an oxidant stream to form a combustion stream. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
