PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a viscous coupling with high viscous torque (viscous resistance) capable of efficiently transmitting drive force. SOLUTION: The viscous coupling has a working chamber comprising an outer rotary member connected to one rotary shaft and an inner rotary member connected to another rotary shaft, has viscous fluid filled in the working chamber, has an outer plate 32 connected to the outer rotary member and an inner plate 22 connected to the inner rotary member alternately arranged, and can transmit power between both plates via viscous fluid. The outer plate 32 and the inner plate 23 have surface treatment layers 22B, 32B of 20-60μm thickness having roughness treatment applied thereon on surfaces thereof. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
