PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low shrinkage aliphatic polyester fiber with a low shrinkage in hot water, especially low shrinkage as a fabric structure. SOLUTION: The method for producing polylactic acid fiber composed of≥95 mol.% of L-lactic acid, includes contact of running threads with a heated rotating roller which is the only one heat setting means, after heat drawing, wherein the temperature of the rotating roller is set at 100-150°C and the tension of the running thread after leaving the rotating roller is set at≤0.2 cN/dtex.
