PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide effectively and inexpensively gas barrier film capable of protecting various articles by preventing permeation of steam and oxygen by a simple method. SOLUTION: The gas barrier film comprises the first, the second and the third organic/inorganic hybrid layers (2, 3, 4) overlying one of the main surfaces of a plastic film (1), wherein those organic/inorganic hybrid layers contain carbon-silicone-nitrogen and hydrogen forced to be incorporated, the first and the third organic/inorganic hybrid layers (2, 4) has a larger carbon amount ratio in comparison with second organic/inorganic hybrid layer (3), and the second organic/inorganic hybrid layer (3) has a larger total amount of silicone and nitrogen than the first and the third organic/inorganic hybrid (2, 4).
