PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor for printing by a printing method suitable for an input image without contradicting a user's intention, and to provide its control method. SOLUTION: The image processor includes a guessing means which guesses whether or not the input image is an image of a specific character, an acquiring means which acquires an indication for setting a printing method according to the image of the specific character, and a setting means which sets the printing method for the input image when the input image is guessed to be the image of the specific character and also the indication for setting the printing method is acquired.
