The invention relates to bi-directional overrunning clutches which are coaxial and employ an actuator to simultaneously decouple the slipper rings and to lock the clutch. The actuator also employs a pair of cam surfaces and corresponding cam follower surfaces to actively control the overrun operating mode and the locking operating mode of the clutch.
