The invention relates to crystalline forms of various solvates of ilapraz ole, 2[[(4-methoxy-3- methyl-2-pyridinyl)-methyl]sulfinyl]-5-(lH-pyrrol-l-yl ) 1H-Benzimidazole. The invention also relates to a pharmaceutical compositi on for inhibiting gastric acid secretion comprising crystalline ilaprazole h ydrate according to the invention in an amount effective to inhibit gastric acid secretion and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The invention also provides methods of treatment for various acid-related gastrointestinal (GI ) disorders.
