<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing dimanganese trioxide having a low sulfate radical content and suitable for use in the manufacture of a lithium-manganese multiple oxide which is a positive electrode active material of a lithium secondary battery by treating electrolytic manganese dioxide at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing dimanganese trioxide comprises: subjecting massive electrolytic manganese dioxide obtained by electrolyzing a manganese sulfate solution to washing, drying and pulverization to obtain finely-powdered manganese dioxide; washing the finely-powdered manganese dioxide; immediately subjecting it to filtration and drying; and heat-treating the obtained manganese dioxide powder at 750-950°C to convert the manganese dioxide to dimanganese trioxide. This dimanganese trioxide has an SO<SB>4</SB>concentration of ≤0.6% by mass and is excellent as a starting material of a positive electrode active material of a lithium secondary battery. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
