PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the water solubility of a fluorescent dye and to improve fluorescence intensity at labeling. SOLUTION: This fluorescent dye is an organic EL dye comprising an azole derivative or imidazole derivative having a conjugate system and comprising one or more hetero atoms such as a selenium atom and a boron atom, and a nitrogen cation-containing group bonded directly or through a linker. It can improve labelling index to a living body molecule by virtue of its high solubility in water, thereby enables the detection of a living body molecule at high sensitivity.
