PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform control so that transfer efficiency of charge in a transfer means is not deteriorated by detecting the transfer efficiency of charge in a transfer means for transferring charge generated by a light receiving element in the case of photographing a normal image. SOLUTION: In this imaging apparatus, an amount of change calculation part decides the amount of change of image signal components acquired by sampling the image signal components of the output signal (voltage V<SB>OUT</SB>) of a light receiving element configuring a CCD by two time pulses whose phases are different from each other. When there is any change in the image signal components, all charge q generated by the light receiving element is transferred from the transfer electrode at the final stage of a horizontal transfer path to an N+ channel connected to an output part is not transferred within a predetermined time, and it is decided that the deterioration of local transfer efficiency is caused. When there is not any change in the image signal components, it is not decided that the deterioration of the local transfer efficiency is caused. Then, a horizontal transfer path driving control part controls the driving frequency and driving voltage of the horizontal transfer path so that the amount of change of the image signal components becomes small.
