PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability in recording a video signal with low resolution by using an image pickup device achieving high resolution recording. SOLUTION: When a recording medium for recording a video signal generated by an image pickup means is extracted, the video signal is inhibited from being HD-recorded in the recording medium under predetermined specific conditions. Thus, it is possible to set a camera mode suitable for the use state or situations of a user when switching the recording medium during recording of the video signal with low resolution by using an image pickup device achieving high resolution recording.
