PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device where a fur brush linearly comes into contact with the surface of an image carrier by a linear contact shape part processed to be deformed, and a toner image on the surface of the image carrier is transferred to a recording medium, then, a good-quality image free from defects is obtained. SOLUTION: The transfer device 6 introduces such a transfer system that the toner image on the photoreceptor 4 is contact-transferred through the use of a transfer belt 62 for the image carrier 4 or 7, and also, the transfer bias apply brush 61 is brought into contact with the side opposite to the side facing the image carrier 4 or 7 of the transfer belt 62 so as to apply a transfer bias on the transfer belt 62 at a transfer process of transferring the toner image formed on the photoreceptor 4. The cross sectional shape of a transfer bias apply brush thread 611 is a linear contact shape so as to linearly come into contact with the surface of the transfer belt 62.
