PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for a polarization inversion structure capable of easily forming a periodic polarization inversing structure uniform over a wide range. SOLUTION: The electrodes (2 and 3) are respectively arranged on the two opposite surfaces of a ferroelectric material substrate 1 having a nonlinear optical effect and the at least one electrode (2) among the respective electrodes (2 and 3) respectively arranged on the two opposite surfaces has a prescribed electrode pattern for manufacturing the polarization inversion structure which inverses the polarization direction by applying an electric field to the dielectric material substrate.
