PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a footstep levitation prevention device for an escalator capable of preventing a follow-up roller from colliding against a horizontal connection member in an intermediate part when footsteps swing in the vertical direction on a return passage side to maintain running of the footsteps. SOLUTION: A pressing rail 20 is arranged between a return passage side follow-up rail 19 and the horizontal connection member 1e in the intermediate part. The pressing rail 20 has a regulation face 20a opposing to a running face 19a of the return passage side follow-up rail 19. The pressing rail 20 is abutted on the regulation face 20a when the follow-up roller 26 rolling on the running face 19a of the return passage side follow-up rail 19 leaves the running face 19a to regulate displacement of the follow-up roller 26 in the direction in which it leaves the running face 19a.
