PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of a ship propulsion device capable of reducing wear of a shift mechanism, automating the dead-slow navigation, facilitating the ship operation, and eliminating the difference in the ship operation technology by a ship operator. SOLUTION: The control device of the ship propulsion device comprises a remotely-controlled operation means having a remote control shift lever, a ship propulsion means having a shift changing device and a shift actuator for driving the same, a main control unit 61 for controlling the operation of the shift actuator based on the operation quantity of the remote control shift lever, an auxiliary control means 64 for performing the dead-slow navigation of a ship, and a changing unit 63 for selecting the main control unit 61 and an auxiliary control unit 62. The auxiliary control means 64 has a data table 49 for performing the dead-slow navigation of a hull and an auxiliary control unit 62 which selects one of the dead-slow navigation instruction data from the data table 49 and outputs the execution instruction of the dead-slow navigation to the shift actuator.
