PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wiper device capable of facilitating replacement of a wiper blade and eliminating erroneous operation. SOLUTION: The wiper drive device allows a wiper arm to move to a retract position when wiper operation is stopped. In replacing the wiper blade, an IG (ignition) switch 33 is switched from ON to OFF with a mist switch 34 as an automatic reset switch ON. CPU 42, receiving signals from an IG switch input circuit 43 and a mist switch input circuit 44, drives a wiper motor 3 to move a pair of wiper arms to an upper reversing position.
