摘要 It provides a nickel electrode for an alkaline secondary battery and alkaline secondary battery that have a high discharge capacity, a small irreversible capacity, and also a superior cycle characteristic, high-rate discharge characteristics, and charge efficiency. Also, it provides a process for the production of a nickel electrode for an alkaline secondary battery that is superior in productivity. A nickel electrode for an alkaline secondary battery and alkaline secondary battery having the electrode with an electrically conductive base plate supporting an active material particle comprising a particle that mainly consists of a high-order nickel hydroxide whose oxidation number of nickel is higher than +2, or a complex particle with a surface layer that mainly consists of a high-order cobalt hydroxide compound whose oxidation number of cobalt is higher than +2 on the surface of the core layer particle that mainly consists of the high-order nickel hydroxide; wherein lithium (Li) is contained to be a solid solution in said active material particle in the converted amount of from 0.01 to 0.5 wt % as a simple. Also, several ways of method for the production of the nickel electrode for alkaline secondary battery are provided as (1) method to impregnate Li to the active material powder that mainly consists of high-order nickel hydroxide that is oxidized in advance, (2) method to perform oxidization of particle that mainly consists of nickel hydroxide and Li impregnation to the powder in one process, (3) method to support a paste that contains active material powder and lithium hydroxide solution to the electrically conductive base plate, (4) method to impregnate lithium hydroxide solution after making it the electrode plate, (5) method to support a paste that contains active material powder and lithium salt solution to the electrically conducive base plate, and (6) method to impregnate lithium hydroxide solution after making it the electrode plate.
