The invention relates to a process for the production of ethylene low polymer with a chromium catalyst which makes it possible to recover decene, under such conditions that decomposition products of the chromium catalyst and so on are little generated, from high-boiler separate from ethylene low polymer. The process comprises separating by distillation a reaction fluid which is obtained by low polymerization with a chromium catalyst and contains ethylene low polymer into both ethylene low polymer and a high-boiler containing the chromium catalyst, decene, tetradecene and by-product polymers and concentrating the high-boiler by the use of anevaporation separator (70) and a liquid reservoir tank (80) in so as to give a tetradecene concentration of 5wt% or above while separating decene by evaporation in such a way as to satisfy the relationship (1) wherein T is temperature (°C) of residual solution and ? is residence time (min) of residual solution. ?/1.2EXP(800/T) = 1 (1) |
