<p>A method for manufacturing pearlescent pigment by coating metal oxide on compound mica is provided to manufacture the pearlescent pigment with superior gloss and chroma by maintaining the surface of compound mica smooth, which is used as the basic material. In the method for manufacturing pearlescent pigment by coating metal oxide on compound mica, a few stages are included. In the first stage, the compound mica and water are stirred in a water mixer and they are pulverized as the particle size of 100-500 micrometer. In the second stage, the particles of the compound mica are dispersed in water and they are maintained as pH 1-4 by adding acid. In the third stage, the polymer of metal oxide is added in the basic water solution until the wanted color is gained with maintaining the range of pH and a hydrated metal oxide layer is formed. In the fourth stage, the compound mica, on which the metal oxide layer is coated, is filtered, cleaned and dried, and then the metal oxide layer becomes plastic.</p> |
