<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinel type lithium manganese oxide as a positive electrode active material for a secondary battery having a small particle diameter and less irregularity in the crystal structure and providing charged electrical energy to the outside of the cell even if large current discharge is carried out, and a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The spinel type lithium manganese oxide has a chemical composition represented by the general formula: Li<SB>1+x</SB>M<SB>y</SB>Mn<SB>2-x-y</SB>O<SB>4</SB>, a maximum particle diameter D<SB>100</SB>of ≤15 μm, a half-value width by X-ray diffraction of (400) face being ≤0.30 and a ratio (I<SB>400</SB>/I<SB>111</SB>) of peak intensity I<SB>400</SB>of (400) face to peak intensity I<SB>111</SB>of (111) face being ≥0.33, wherein M is one or more metal elements selected from Al, Co, Ni, Mg, Zr and Ti, 0≤x≤0.33, and 0≤y≤0.2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
