PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-strength reinforcing fiber for rubber hose improved not only in braid properties but also in durability and adhesiveness to rubber. SOLUTION: The reinforcing fiber for the rubber hose composed of a polyester has a flat cross-sectional shape of the cross section of the fiber. The cross section flatness which is a ratio B/C1 of maximum width B in the longitudinal direction of the flat cross section to the maximum width C1 in the direction intersecting the center line drawn in the longitudinal direction at right angles is within the range of 2-6.
