PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To switch a clutch operation system when backing to a deadman clutch system and hold a clutch lever at an in-position even when backward by switching the presence or absence of backward restraint selectively. SOLUTION: A walking type power tiller provided with a running power transmission passage for transmitting power of an engine to a wheel through a main gear shift mechanism incorporated in a transmission case 4, a running clutch mechanism 15 provided in the running power transmission passage, and the clutch lever for turning on and off the running clutch mechanism 15. The walking type power tiller is provided with the backward restrain mechanism 22 for restraining on an in-operation of the clutch lever when the main gear shift mechanism is backed, and a connection pin 29 for switching the presence or absence of restraint selectively by the backward restrain mechanism 22 in the vicinity of the transmission case 4.
