PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant crash protection device capable of enhancing the shock-absorbing performance of an airbag by optimizing the deployment timing and the deploying force of the airbag according to the distance between an occupant and the airbag, i.e., the seating position. SOLUTION: It is detected that the seating position of an occupant in a seat 1 is on the front side or the rear side of a seat cushion based on the outputs of first to fourth load sensors 11-14 provided on the seat 1. A controller 3 performs the control so as to expedite the deployment timing of an airbag and suppress the deploying force to be low when the airbag is deployed and the seating position of the occupant is on the front side of the seat cushion in comparison with a case when the seating position of the occupant is on the rear side.
