METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ESTIMATING THE LIFETIME OF A BATTERY

A method of estimating the lifetime of a battery in a battery powered device, wherein the battery powered device comprises at least two operating modes is disclosed. The method comprises: - generating at least one parameter in parallel to the operation of at least one of the at least two operating modes; - retrieving battery powered device characteristics from a memory; - retrieving battery characteristics from a memory; - estimating a lifetime parameter indicative of the battery lifetime in dependence of the at least one parameter, battery powered device characteristics and the battery characteristics; and, - supplying the lifetime parameter to an output for display on a display device.
