BIOCHIP INTEGRATED WITH DIFFRACTIVE OPTICAL ELEMENTS FOR CELL VIABILITY TESTS

A method for measuring cell viability is provided to measure the cell viability conveniently in real time under various conditions and need no labelling of the cell using a plate for measuring the cell viability where a diffractive optical element is integrated, thereby being applied to a medicine field and a biochip requiring rapid and accurate cell viability measurement. A method for measuring cell viability comprises the steps of: (a) placing cells on a diffractive optical element integrated plate for measuring the cell viability; (b) applying light to the cells; (c) collecting the incident light passed through the diffractive optical element and a lens on a focal plane; and (d) comparing data obtained from an image device located on the focal plane with a database regarding the focal plane in accordance with the cell viability. The method further comprises a step of installing a pin hole between the lens and the image device to eliminate light emitted from dead cells.
